Seventh Wave Systems has fully adopted RIXML in designing ReachIS, its investment research delivery and management system.

ReachIS serves the needs of both suppliers and users of investment research. ReachIS is an enabling technology that can fundamentally change the investment research industry.

A ReachIS server receives and stores all investment research, sent electronically, from any producer, including in-house analysts. ReachIS provides secure and immediate delivery of research to named users, something producers have demanded for many years.

Only one copy of any document is delivered to each ReachIS server and becomes immediately accessible to all authorized users. The server records every time a document is reviewed or evaluated and this information is aggregated to form detailed management statistics on usage.

Producers of research classify and electronically tag all documents using the RIXML industry standards. Michael Lobb, who designed and built ReachIS, was one of the original RIXML committee members and saw how RIXML would transform the distribution of research. ReachIS uses RIXML to standardize research data and enable producers and users of research to interact on a peer-to-peer basis.

The ReachIS browser is designed to be easy to use for anyone familiar with Windows applications and contains powerful search, sort and filter tools that fully exploit the possibilities inherent in RIXML. RIXML will have a dual role at the 60th CFA Institute Annual Conference taking place April 29th – May 2nd in New York City. RIXML.org will be presenting at the breakfast session on Wednesday May 2nd “RIXML and the CFA – Perfect Together” and also in a group presentation session “RIXML and XBRL – Analysis Life Cycle”. If you are a Research professional you have to admit you are living in some very strange and uncertain times. The Research model for the future is foggy and it certainly is not going to replicate the models of the past. As more and more Buy-side firms demand access “just to the data, or, give me an API feed” the need for the traditional PDF report is going to disappear.

Channel checking, talking to Industry experts, linear programming approaches to generating the “Best ideas” are all in vogue. With the Global Research Analyst Settlement ending in about two years, many Firms are starting to look beyond the Regulatory/Legal structure that had to be put into place and they are trying to figure out the new paradigm for doing business. I have been in the Research business for over 25 years and this is the most confusing, abet exciting, period I can remember - buckle up your seatbelts its going to be a bumpy ride!!
