Q: Who is your technology vendor? A: We selected KPMG Consulting to handle the issues associated with the development of the standard, collecting and documenting the requirements and the necessary data that the firms are providing for the specification. Q: Why did you choose KMPG Consulting? A: KPMG Consulting was the unanimous choice of the Steering Committee as they had an understanding of the nature of investment research and its taxonomy, as well as knowledge of XML. Q: What goes into developing a standard - how does it work from a technology perspective? A: The first step is to have a strong knowledge of the business, a solid set of requirements, well-defined use cases, and an agreed-upon scope. With those pieces in place, our Technical Working Group gathered implementation experts from participating member firms and worked closely with KPMG Consulting to define an object model that formed the bridge between the business requirements and the XML schema. The XML schema was then created from that object model and then iterated back through the business group for validation and enhancement requests. |
