PARTICIPANTS

Q: How do I become a RIXML.org member?

A: Memberships are open to all industry participants interested in the development and implementation of the RIXML standard.

We have two different levels of membership — Steering Committee and Associate. Steering Committee memberships are open to buy- and sell-side firms. Steering Committee members are responsible for executive and administrative oversight of RIXML.org. The team sets strategy and overall direction for the RIXML specification.

Associate Memberships are open to research aggregators, ratings agencies, technology firms, consulting firms and independent research providers. Associate membership is a category we introduced in April 2001 as a way to engage all industry participants in the development of the RIXML standard. As associate members, organizations can get involved in the continued development of the standard and participate as members of the Standards and Technical Committees of the RIXML organization.

Q: What are the fees for Steering Committee members?

A: The annual fee through December 31, 2003 is $6000 for buy-side firms and $15,000 for sell-side firms.

Q: What are the fees for Associate Members?

A: The annual fee through December 31, 2003 for associate members is $ 10,000

Q: Can other standards organizations join RIXML (e.g. XBRL.org, NewsML.org) as associate members?

A: No, only individual companies can join RIXML.org.

Q: Why is RIXML.org vendor neutral?

A: RIXML.org is technology and system neutral because we felt in order to develop an open standard with no bias we needed to limit the initial participation of vendors. However, from inception, it has been our intention to engage vendors after the public comment release of version 1.0, which we organized through the creation of our Associate Membership category. Since opening participation of RIXML.org to the vendor community, we feel they have added tremendous value to our effort based on their unique insight into the distribution of investment research. As with all RIXML members, they bring a tremendous amount of resources to the table and we expect vendors to continue playing an important role in the evolution, implementation and success of RIXML.
