Q: What's next for RIXML? A: In addition to evolving the standard based on the industrys needs, we are also focusing our efforts on the implementation and adoption of RIXML across the globe. In order for RIXML to be successful, we need to reach critical mass. RIXML has the advantage of support from its members, who produce and consume a vast majority of the daily research content. Continued member support, along with systems development to apply the standard on a firm-by-firm basis, and continued improvement and development based on industry needs, will be key to RIXMLs success. Q: Why did RIXML release a specification to address Ratings specifically, Version 2.1? A: Since RIXML.org released version 2.0 of its specification for public comment in 2002, the industry has experienced a broad shift in the way research publishers provide ratings for covered companies. Mostly in reaction to the changing industry climate, publishers have been generally converging on a three-tiered rating system combined with some other indicators for volatility etc. Weve recognized this change, and considered its impact on RIXML. We believe version 2.1 is better matched to what publishers are doing, and that it will provide an improved basis for tagging and classification of research content. |
