RIXML.org Quarterly Meeting Update

June 2020

This week’s virtual quarterly RIXML.org meeting was hosted by Bloomberg.  Michael Mayhew of Integrity Research Associates provided us with an informative update on how the current restrictions are affecting conferences, research budgets and payments, the ways in which sell-side firms are adapting their services, and buy-side perceptions regarding sell-side support during this time.  A lively Q&A period followed, allowing member firms to discuss these results and ask follow-up questions.  Executive Director Jim Ulrich presented the current state of US and EU guidance on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) ratings and explained reasons for increased interest in sustainable finance taxonomies in the marketplace.  RIXML’s ESG Working Group has already begun exploring ways in which the RIXML organization could leverage its experience to add value to this emerging  area.  If you or your firm would like more information about RIXML or our ESG Working Group, contact This email address is being protected from spambots. May Technology Committee Meeting Update

May 2020

This month’s RIXML Technology Committee meeting featured updates from the Linkbacks and Standards committees and the ESG and website working groups. Linkbacks Committee chair Patty Lynch provided an update on the strawman being developed for discussion at the next committee meeting, and invited input from interested parties. The ESG Working Group has determined that it will initially focus on the Oil & Gas and Financials industries. The Standards Committee is taking a methodical approach to designing a plan for developing the next major release of the Research standard; in addition to adding new tags to address outstanding enhancement requests, they will also evaluate whether certain tag sets should be removed. Finally, the Website Working Group has completed the planning phase of the overhaul project and will begin making changes to the site in the near future.
